Applications Open for the TIMREX Digital Geoscience Workshop 2026

The TIMREX consortium is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the TIMREX Digital Geoscience Workshop 2026, an international training programme focused on the latest digital methods supporting mineral exploration and critical raw materials assessment.

The workshop will provide participants with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in the integration of satellite remote sensing, LiDAR, geophysics, geochemistry and Artificial Intelligence into modern exploration workflows. The programme is delivered by geoscience experts from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Luleå University of Technology, Montanuniversität Leoben, the University of Zagreb and the University of Miskolc, and is supported and recommended by EIT RawMaterials.

Wrocław University of Science and Technology (WUST), Poland, including a field programme at Zalas Mine featuring practical demonstrations using GPR, magnetometers, terrestrial laser scanning and drone technologies.

  • Geologists and mineral exploration professionals seeking advanced digital prospecting skills.
  • Staff from Geological Surveys supporting implementation of the Critical Raw Materials Act.
  • MSc and PhD students wishing to strengthen competencies in mineral prospectivity mapping and digital exploration workflows.

  • Multispectral satellite data processing
  • LiDAR and photogrammetry
  • Airborne geophysics and satellite data integration
  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applications
  • Surface geochemistry, GIS and geostatistics
  • Porphyry copper exploration concepts
  • Integrated exploration project design

The programme combines lectures and practical exercises using professional software tools including SNAP, CloudCompare, QGIS and MATLAB.
